The Charity - 2019

MHA Winchester Live at Home Scheme is a vibrant, active charity offering support and friendship to local older people living in their own homes; helping to maintain independent living, improve well-being and reduce isolation. We currently offer services to over 400 older people with the support of 115 volunteers and 8 staff.

Befriending remains our core service, supported by other “at home” services: Telephone Link, occasional shopping, transport to one off appointments and clubs, Newsletters, Greetings Cards, Christmas Gifts and volunteer visits whilst in hospital. These services are complemented by a wide range of social activities including 12 weekly Exercise Classes, 2 Singing for Wellbeing Groups, a weekly Pub Lunch, a weekly Radio Theatre Group, fortnightly Activity Day with buffet lunch, fortnightly extended Lunch Club with entertainment for up to 50 members and a monthly restaurant lunch club.  We also offer 10 small summer outings (10 members each), 4 larger outings throughout the year to places of interest and/or for shopping and lunch (approx. 45 members each) and an Annual 5-day holiday for approximately 20 members.

Winchester Live at Home Scheme works towards ensuring our communities are healthy and happy by providing a range of activities designed to improve personal health and wellbeing, particularly in regard to tackling loneliness and isolation, falls prevention and supporting people with dementia and their carers.
